We live in challenging times. Many are struggling with the political and social changes facing us. This certainly can cause some anxiety; even more so because of the pandemic and its disruptions of family, work, and social activities.  Because of social distancing many of our regular means of coping with anxiety are not as readily available to use. You may have had church services curtailed or altered. You may be getting fewer hugs, fewer laughs, and fewer opportunities for interaction. Things can seem precarious and scary.

But be not afraid; all is most certainly not lost. We are not alone. Whom shall we fear when the God of Angel Armies is always by our side.

Instead of waiting in fear for things to change, we need to ask God to lead us in doing something positive today. Do something positive today for yourself and those your love. Begin with reading your bible and prayer books. See the daily calendar of readings for the Morning and Evening that I have posted on the Anglican Anchoress website. Turn off the 24/7 news stream and listen to some great uplifting music. Call and check on family. Send encouraging notes to friends. See if your church could use some casseroles for shut-ins and bake them.  Then if you have the time and inclination to write letters and emails to elected officials, great. Let’s be the people of light, rather than people of gloom. God is with us, so whom shall we fear?

I’ll end with Psalm 27, the Lord is my Light being chanted by the Guildford Cathedral Choir.
