How do we live in the world but not be of the world?
I have been revisiting this question frequently over the past month. For me it required remembering who I am and WHO I represent. As a Christian, during Baptism, I was made a member of Christ, child of God and inheritor of the kingdom of heaven. Vows were also made my Godparents, which I subsequently renewed as an adult, to renounce Satan and the wickedness of the world and the lust of the flesh; secondly, to believe the articles of Christian faith; and thirdly, to keep God’s holy will and commandments and walk in the same.
Living in the world, but not being of the world requires us to remember whose we are and what God calls us to do.
Whether cleaning floors or cleaning the halls of Congress,
Whether praying or protesting,
Ask God to be in your hearts, hands, and feet and guide your work in the world, so that all work be done for His glory and for the expansion of His kingdom. May God guide all our actions.
“O God, when thou wentest forth before the people *
when thou wentest through the wilderness,
The earth shook, and the heavens dropped at the presence of God;…” Psalm 68.
