A Rose Blooms in Winter!

We are well into the 4th week of Advent and expectation is growing! Early in the morning right before the sun rises there is a brightening on the horizon. The darkness splits and the curtain begins to rise on the day. Just as we anticipate the celebration of Christ’s birth, we also look toward his coming again as King of the nations. We know that no matter what transpires within the culture, politics, or government a true awakening is on the horizon. It is the dawning in which we can have a sure hope. As in the lyrics of the hymn below, there is a rose blooming in the dead of winter.

Lo, how a Rose e’er blooming from tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse’s lineage coming, as men of old have sung.
It came, a floweret bright, amid the cold of winter,
When half spent was the night.

Isaiah ’twas foretold it, the Rose I have in mind;
With Mary we behold it, the virgin mother kind.
To show God’s love aright, she bore to men a Savior,
When half spent was the night.

In the antiphon for Dec 22nd we pray Come O King of the nations:

O Rex Gentium

O King of the nations, and their desire, the cornerstone making both one: come and save the human race, which you fashioned from clay.
See Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 2:4, Isaiah 28:16, Isaiah 64:8, Ephesians 2:14

The credits are not included in the video below, but I believe the hymn is being sung by the group Voice Trek.
