Joy

In Biblical times the shepherds outside the cities were performing an essential but unglamorous job. They packed in their provisions and so they had to travel with just the basics. Having to keep watch to protect the flocks they were exposed to the elements. The people in the town of Bethlehem really didn’t have to give them much thought. Although their work as shepherds was important,  they did not hold a place of high status. For the most part, they were the invisible people.

Imagine, their joy and delight that they experienced when after getting the herd bedded down for the evening they saw the heavenly army open the sky. Then they began to hear angels began to sing with joy about the world-changing birth of Jesus happening in town. The joy from the angels was shared with the shepherds.

You don’t need a position, or power to experience the same joy.  You don’t need worldly trappings or a home decorated in “Southern Living Magazine” Christmas style. You just need to have ears to hear. The angels are singing.  Hark! The joy that lowly shepherds, the invisible people of their time,  is the joy that can come you!

May you experience the joy of God’s great love made manifest in the birth of Christ. Hark! A Trilling Voice is Calling.
