The Third Sunday in Advent
On the Third Sunday in Advent, the rose or pink color candle is lit. This candle represents joy. The coming of Christ fills us with Joy! Believe me, the more you recognize how badly you need a Savior and you hope for the blessing of eternal life, you can’t help but rejoice about the birth of Jesus.
The prayer below is a contemporary Collect for the Third Sunday in Advent. As I think about it, I see God coming like a whirlwind, delivering us from sin that has us in bondage. Imagine the feeling of being truly free by the power of God. The Joy!
Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might come
among us; and, because we are sorely hindered by our sins,
let your bountiful grace and mercy speedily help and deliver
us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and
the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
