Come, Thou Redeemer of the Earth
Well, here where I live the weather folks on all of the TV channels get very animated when forecasting a larger winter storm; especially if the forecast is jam-packed with ice and snow. I have to admit, I get excited myself as I prepare for winter storms. Thankfully, my little anchorage is pretty well stocked. I have oil lamps (yes, I really do!) in case the power goes out. I don’t have an additional source of heat, but gratefully, I have lots of blankets and a super furry pet.
If a really big storm is predicted I load up planned web articles in advance, just in case the predicted weather storms cause a power outage.
But sometimes, after all of the hoopla of preparing the storm doesn’t pan out. We’ll get some light snow and not much else. I have to say that on those occasions, I’m a little disappointed about not being snowed in. I look forward to those quiet days at the anchorage. But, I do have to say, I am glad that I won’t have to worry about heat.
So, I started thinking…what’s really preventing me from staying in and cocooning? Why not act like I’m snowed in for the weekend? (aside from going to church). I could listen to Advent music, read devotions, write encouraging letters to friends and prepare some of my holiday decorations. Brilliant idea!
If you were snowed in, what is something you could do to focus on the coming of Christ? If you weren’t snowed in…would you make time to prepare for Him anyway?
Here is something that is playing at the anchorage today. This is Come Thou Redeemer of the Earth sung by the Choir Canto Deo Choir.
